We need to talk. I can't do this anymore. Today I want sleek straight hair, next day I'm using my curling iron for some curls. My hair just can't take the heat anymore. And in a way I'm happy because I use the blow dryer only when my hair is wet and I have to get somewhere ASAP.

So here's the challenge. Starting today , January 26th, 2013 , for at least a month I will not use any source of heat for my hair. The only exception is when my hair is wet and I'm in a hurry. But even so I will try to use the cold air instead of the hot one.

I have a flat iron for straight hair, a curling iron and a blow dryer. So these are the sources of the problem.

I've done some research and found some tutorials for curls with no heat, eve straight hair with no heat. Besides, I'm really getting the hang of messy buns so I'm trying to make the most of it.

And wait for it...

I plan on cutting on the styling products also. That's right. Since I'm not going to use heat there is no use in me applying heat protectant, right? Also, no hair spray, no styling wax, shine serum or any like that. I will try to make my own styling products and if you are interested, let me know.

And of course the most used products will be conditioners, hair treatments (for dandruff , greasy roots and dry hair), hair masks, oils, butters. I have argan oil, castor oil and I'm searching for coconut oil (or coconut butter if I don't find oil) and shea butter. Also, I will be taking some vitamins for my hair.

Another thing that I will be doing is cutting my own hair. I have never done this before so keep your fingeres crossed for me, will you? If it goes right maybe I will share it with you. If not, I will put paper bag over my face and never leave home without it *smile*

So what do you say? Interested in my little experiment? If you like, you can join too. I would love to have someone to share this with.

hugs and kisses,

Love, Andreea!

Hello my lovely ones!

It has been such a long time since my last post. I feels like forever and I'm gonna apologize for any inconsistency between this post and the ones before. It's as if I forgot how to write. How weird is that?

My disappearance was so sudden that it should come as no surprise that some of you thought that I have closed this blog for good. Well, that's not the case. So why have I taken a break do you ask?

Mostly because my life was a giant clutter. I had so many projects to finish, so little time, time for myself was a foreign notion and the little time I had I spent it with my family and my boyfriend. And on top of everything I couldn't let the blog as it was, without any update. Plus I wanted to give my blog a makeover.

If you follow my blog since my first post, don't worry, the post are not going to change. Well, that's not completely true. I do hope to write better and better but the content will be as it was up until now. Personal. Like friends gathered around some coffee/ tea/ hot chocolate and biscuits.

I have a series of projects pending:

the opening of a template shop - a project that I have been working together with my boyfriend

a challenge for my hair: no heat for at least a month

losing a lot of weight - tell me if you are interested in me opening a new segment on this blog regarding this; you can join me too if you want;

diy projects for my clothes - I'm planning on buying a bunch of white&black shirts and t-shirts and customize them with buttons, studs, ribbons, lace, markers etc.

diy projects for hair accessories - I'm a huge fan of hair bows, hair pins etc. And since March is not far away from now, I want to get started.

Valentine's day tutorials - nails and make-up mostly

...and many others. But you will find more about them at the right time.

So I would appreciate if you could tell me if you would be interested in any of these and maybe you have a request of your own.

I've missed writing.

love

I'm really in love with these kind of projects that support communication among bloggers. I think it's something very sweet and exciting.
So for this kind of post, I have to answer a few question. So there it goes.
BE HAPPY DAY 4

Feels like forever since my last post. But I'm glad to see the success it had. It got me thinking about something. We'll get to that later.

The past few days were like a "mixed feelings fest". I had my share of laughter and my share of pure sadness and frustration. The worst thing that happened to me was the fact that I caught a virus on my laptop. With all my computer knowledge and my anti-virus program I couldn't to anything.
The worst part is that I didn't have backup for anything. I keep saying to put everything important on a site such as dropbox. But do I actually do it? Of course not. So you can figure that I lost everything. Photos, projects, movies... everything was gone in matters of seconds. I know that it may sound stupid. And I know that. After all there are people dealing with health issues, hunger etc and I'm upset over a laptop. But because, thank God, I'm not experiencing problems of that I consider this to be a huge problem for me. I was so upset and angry that I tried to hold my tears. Because of all the photos I have lost. Memories that I had and were documented were gone just like that. Photos from this Christmas, new year, random moments, birthday from when I was 18, 19, 20. I still regret them. And that gives me another reason why I sometimes hate digital cameras. When you use a film you have to print your photos. You have no choice. But with digital ones you just download them into your computer and brows through them whenever you happen to remember you have them.

But the best thing this week was that I got an A without having to take an actual exam. You just had to go to every class and do two presentations in front of the class. Whoever did that got an A.And I did. So I'm happy about that. Now I have 4 exams left. Yey for me!*smile*

The success of my basic manicure got me thinking. I will write two separate post about how to take care of your nails and how to take care of your cuticles. I will write about everything I do.The vitamins I take, what I eat, what products I have for them. I hope you are looking forward to this. I know I am. I will write them tomorrow morning. Also I will move on to a new chapter in the CONFIDENCE files. So keep an eye for that.

For tonight I will drink some hot chocolate, snuggle between a warm blanket with my teddy and watch Hotel Transylvania.

Love, Andreea!

BE HAPPY DAY 3

What I use// 1. Remove previous nail polish// 2. File your nails// 3. Use oil for your cuticles// 4. Push your cuticles// 5. Use o treatment for nails and cuticles// Final result

Having a nice manicure is probably one of the most important things for me. So I thought I would show you what I do when I want a simple manicure, and how I do it. First off I will explain the photos and after that I will write some additional info. Hope you will like it. Let's get to it!

For this manicure I use: nail polish remover, a cotton pad, oil and a special stick for my cuticles, nail file and a treatment for nails and cuticles.

1) Start by removing any nail polish from your nails. Even if you don't have nail polish on your nails, clean your nails with a nail polish remover. Make sure it's acetone-free. Better for your nails, cuticles and the skin around your nails.

2) File your nails. Start from the center of the nail and file towards the corners. Don't file from one corner to another because it wrecks your nails. And make sure you use a good nail file. Trust me when I say that a damaged nail file means damaged nails.

3) Use an oil for a cuticles. Massage it gently in your cuticles.

4) Push the cuticles with a special stick. You can find these very cheap at drugstores.I paid less than $1 for a set of 10. Try to avoid the metal tools that come with manicure sets.

5) Clean your nails with a napkin to remove the excess oil. After that use a treatment for your nails and cuticles. This can come in different forms. For now I'm testing the castor oil. Apply it onto your nails and cuticles with a brush (or your finger), rub it and leave it for about 5 minutes. After that wipe it off with a tissue.

6) You are done!

Of course that you can leave them like that or you can apply a transparent nail varnish. There are some that are treatments too. Or you can use a color of your choice. It's up to you.

My notes would be these:

If your cuticles are a little bit thicker soak your fingers in warm water for about 10 minutes. Add a little bit of soap or shower gel. But make sure it's a hydrating one.Do this after you removed your nail polish and before you start pushing your cuticles. I don't recommend cutting them. There are various reasons. The most important is that you can end up with an infected nail. So pass!

You can use whatever cuticle treatment you like. There are balms, creams, oils. It doesn't matter as long as it gets the job done. If you don't have anything like that around the house, just rub some body butter onto your nails. Olive oil is just as good.

The treatment I use is castor oil. It's cheap and it's great for nails, hair, eyebrows (for those with thin eyebrows) and for your eyelashes. You can use whatever you prefer. This is my method.

Don't forget about hand cream. It's important if you want delicate hands and healthy skin and nails.

What is your manicure routine? I would love to read your comments and maybe learn something new.

Also, would you like to read more of this sort of posts?

For a long period of time I've struggled with confidence issues. I still am but it got better. I've come to accept many things about myself. So I thought I would make a series of posts about this. About how I've learned to not be so harsh on myself. At the end of every post I will write an advice. Hope you will like it.
Let's face it. There are a few girls who are happy about their body. If they are skinny they want a larger bust. If they have a large bust they want a smaller one. If they are not skinny they become depressed whenever they see girls such as the models from VS. I used to have moments when I would skip meals, exercise almost two hours and drink only water. I was feeling dizzy, as if I was about to pass out. And I continued like this until I was to weak to workout any longer. The worst part for me (as I thought at that time) was that I hadn't lost the weight that I thought I did. So I woke up and realized that I wasn't about to carry on like this for to much longer. That's when things started changing for me. I've come to understand that my diet wasn't the only thing that I had to change. My lifestyle was. My way of thinking. And my way of seeing myself. I've started reading on the internet about girls who messed up their health because of ridiculous diets and unsuitable workout programs. So my first advice in learning how to gain confidence is this: if you have a healthy body, learn to love it.

Based on today's post, let's talk about how you've struggled with learning how to love your body.

A rainbow on a rainy day. Leaves changing color in the autumn. A fascinating book. Those little things that make us feel good about ourselves. That's what this blog is about.
This is my first post and it's harder than I would have thought. As if every bit of my imagination has left my body.
Usually I prefer the less complicated part of life. The part where choosing an outfit takes me about 5 minutes. Because I know that black and white always go well together. Because it's easier to use a red lipstick to complete an outfit than a bunch of jewelry.
Meanwhile I've come to accept that in life there are things that I cannot change. What I can do is adapt and move one. It's the healthiest thing that one can do.
A long time I've sat in front of my computer being a blog reader. Now I want to be a blog writer. I have the support of my boyfriend because he could see how happy I was after reading a blog. I have a hunch that something nice awaits me. I'm sure that I will meet beautiful people with big hearts. People that will make me smile everyday. And I'm looking forward to that.
Love,Andreea!
